‘De BDSM community’ wat is dat? Bestaat dat überhaupt wel?
In verschillende landen en verschillende culturen bestaan BDSM-communities, dus de verschillen zijn natuurlijk groot.
Maar toch zijn er wel een aantal overeenkomsten te geven.

De basis van BDSM is ‘consent’. Wat is dan conssent.

Die BDSM-ers doen elkaar wel pijn -soms- of vernederen elkaar (al-dan-niet seksueel) met een intensiteit die best buiten het ‘normale’ valt.
Maar dat zie je wel vaker bij ‘rough and tumble-play’, bij dieren en jonge kinderen. Is BDSM niet een letterlijk speel-veld, inderdaad met grenzen en regels en levels, van intens tot “gewoon een beetje kinky”. En zoals altijd bij spel is een schrammetje niet zo erg, maar het is expliciet niet de bedoeling om elkaar werkelijk te beschadigen!

A similar, widely recognized concept was coined by the sexuality educator and author Midori, who famously defined the practice as “childhood joyous play with adult sexual privilege, and cool toys“. [1]

Both sentiments capture the same psychological core: BDSM functions as an immersive, rule-bound fantasy roleplay—very similar to childhood games of make-believe—but utilizes explicit consent, adult boundaries, and specialized gear. [1, 2]
